Art that transcends limits<\/h3>\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t

Each of Matheus's works reveals a genuine talent\u2014developed without formal academic training and guided solely by sensitivity, imagination, and a passion for art. His canvases have captivated collectors, won awards, and moved people across Brazil.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\tVIEW ARTWORKS\n\t\t<\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\"Obra\n\t

Painter Matheus Matias <\/strong>was born in 1995 in the rural area of Bananeiras, a town located 127 kilometers from Jo\u00e3o Pessoa, in the state of Para\u00edba, Brazil.<\/p>\n

Deaf, nonverbal, and living with progressive vision loss, he has a rare genetic condition that has made painting<\/strong> his primary form of expression.<\/p>\n

His paintings on canvas and roof tiles are part of collections belonging to Na\u00efve Art<\/strong> collectors from various parts of Brazil and have been featured in group exhibitions. At one of these, he received the award for Best Painter<\/strong> of the Exhibition<\/p>\n

His work caught the attention of art enthusiasts\u2014such as Zen\u00f3bio Toscano, the then-mayor of the nearby city of Guarabira\u2014who, together with an Argentine art instructor, invited Matheus to visit a gallery<\/strong> once a week, where paints, brushes, and canvases were at his disposal.<\/p>\n

This encouragement was one of the forms of recognition<\/strong> that led Matheus to establish himself as an artist.<\/p>\n

A prolific artist, he never studied painting. While still a teenager, Matheus covered the walls <\/strong>of the three-room house where he lives with his family with floral, nature, and sacred art motifs, and has signed hundreds of works in acrylic on canvas and roof tiles.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\"Matheus\n\tAt the age of three, he began painting the walls of his home with charcoal<\/strong> left over from the wood-burning stove.
\nAs he grew older, he would ask his father for sheets of paper and cardstock\u2014a request that posed an additional challenge for a family of modest means.\n

His parents dedicate their lives to nurturing their son's health <\/strong>and talent<\/strong> , overcoming obstacles imposed by a society that is not very welcoming to people with disabilities, especially in the realm of education. His older brother has the same genetic condition.<\/p>\n\t\t\t
